About the Collection

Integrative medicine brings together conventional healthcare, evidence-informed complementary approaches, preventive strategies, rehabilitation, lifestyle interventions, and patient-centered care. Its central purpose is not simply to combine treatments, but to consider the biological, psychological, social, and behavioral factors that influence health and recovery.
The Special Issue “Advances in Integrative Medicine: Innovations, Clinical Research, and Patient Care” seeks high-quality manuscripts that improve the understanding, evaluation, and responsible clinical use of integrative approaches across healthcare settings.
Contributions may address clinical outcomes, therapeutic mechanisms, multidisciplinary care, prevention, rehabilitation, quality of life, healthcare delivery, patient experience, education, or emerging methods relevant to integrative medicine.
The collection welcomes work from physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, biomedical researchers, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, therapists, public-health professionals, educators, and other contributors working across the health sciences.

Submissions should use suitable methods, transparent reporting, ethical safeguards, and balanced interpretation of findings.

Aim & Scope
Supporting rigorous and clinically meaningful advances in integrative medicine
This Special Issue aims to provide an international platform for research, case-based learning, clinical innovation, and scholarly discussion across the expanding field of integrative medicine.
The collection will consider manuscripts examining the safety, effectiveness, mechanisms, implementation, and clinical relevance of integrative approaches. It also welcomes studies exploring how conventional medical care may interact with lifestyle, psychological, physical, rehabilitative, nutritional, creative, sensory, and other supportive interventions.
Particular attention will be given to work that clearly describes patient populations, interventions, outcomes, ethical considerations, limitations, and practical implications. Both positive and carefully interpreted negative findings may contribute to a more reliable evidence base.
Interdisciplinary and international contributions are encouraged, including research from clinical practice, hospitals, universities, rehabilitation centers, community settings, and collaborative healthcare networks.

Dr. Hiroshi Bando is an academic physician and clinical researcher with expertise spanning diabetes, metabolic syndrome, primary care, integrative medicine, music therapy, sports medicine, and clinical research.
His multidisciplinary academic work explores conventional clinical medicine alongside integrative approaches to health, rehabilitation, well-being, and patient-centered care. His areas of interest also include lifestyle-related diseases, psychosomatic medicine, therapeutic applications of music and sound, exercise, healthy aging, and innovative approaches to clinical practice.
As Guest Editor, Dr. Bando will provide academic guidance for this Special Issue. All submitted manuscripts will undergo editorial assessment and peer review in accordance with the journal’s established editorial policies and publication standards.
